Job Coaching
“Many people think that if they were only in some other place, or had some other job, they would be happy. Well, that is doubtful. So get as much happiness out of what you are doing as you can and don't put off being happy until some future date.” - Dale CarnegieGoals that you might have for job coaching:
- Learn my job better
- Increasing job satisfaction
- Enhanced job performance
- Becoming clearer on what your job
- Solving work problems
- Better working relationships with coworkers
- Increased self-awareness at work
- Prioritizing tasks
- Understanding workplace hidden rules and culture
- Developing a plan for your continued development
Job coaching primarily focuses on increasing job performance and satisfaction. It can also be a very useful tool when learning any job.
(Keep in mind that coaching is an interactive process with someone trained to really listen non-judgementally and ask good questions designed to make you delve deeper. The information below only begins to show some of what happens during a session. It’s about much more than the questions.)
During the first session your coach will ask you questions such as:
- What is motivating you to try coaching?
- What are your top 3 issues in your job?
- How did it go this past week with the goals you had set?
- Did anything interfere? (if so, what?)
- Shal we brainstorm together about strategies to try if that obstacle surfaces again?
- So, what’s most important to you today?
